About
My Mission:
To Find the Best Personal Horoscopes on the Web for My Readers.
OK, I have a confession to make. While I thoroughly enjoy reading my monthly sun sign horoscope, the truth is that sun sign astrology is as old-fashioned and out-of-date as, well, your morning newspaper.
With six billion people on the planet, and 12 astrological signs, you share your sun sign with an average 500 million people, including Brazilian models, Chinese peasants, Australian rugby players, LA gang members, and assorted Eskimos. Just how much do you really have in common with those people, anyway?
Now the really good news – the technological revolution is making sun sign astrology obsolete, replacing it with computer-generated, Web- or email-delivered personalized horoscopes based on an individual’s own birth date, time and place. On several sites I review, you can now input your birth data and receive your own Personal Horoscope in seconds, all for a few dollars/pounds/euros. You can even get a personalized horoscope sent to you by email every day for free. Amazing!
I call the new wave in astrology “Personal Astrology,” and it’s developing fast, with exciting new Personal Horoscopes and astrological services coming out all the time from both the Western and non-Western astrological traditions.
My goal with this site is to help you find the latest and best Personal Astrology services on the Web today, especially the Personal Horoscopes that can help you understand your life and the special challenges you face. And I promise I will alert you to any scams and just plain old time-wasters that I find along the way.
What I believe
I have four biases that I would like to share with you so that you know where I am coming from when you read my reviews:
- Astrological writing should be clear and easy for you to understand; sites should be attractive and easy to navigate. Good presentation is critical to good communication, and shows respect for the reader.
- Because one picture is worth a thousand words, the visual display of horoscope information is the next wave in Personal Astrology on the Web. Two sites I review, Astrology.com and theFutureMinders, are breaking new ground in this area with exciting use of charting technology, but I believe this trend is still in its infancy, and the best is yet to come.
- Astrological text should be directly and visibly linked to the underlying astrological data. This transparency encourages people to learn more about astrology, and helps keep astrological writers honest. Astrology.com generally follows this philosophy. I do appreciate, though, that some of my readers just want the interpretation without being distracted by the underlying astrological phenomena, and if that describes you, then Astrocenter.com is a great place for you to visit.
- Regard everything you read, including horoscopes, with a degree of skepticism. Astrologers are human, make mistakes, and have their own valid interpretations based on their own life experiences. Two astrologers (one, let’s assume, an optimist and the other a pessimist) can look at your horoscope and interpret it in different ways. That is why I say you should read at least two versions of your birth horoscope – and two monthly horoscopes – from different sources. And at least once in your life you should step outside Western astrology to sample a completely different tradition like the Chinese or Indian/Vedic.
New Personal Astrology sites, horoscopes, and technologies are popping up on the Web all the time, so I encourage you to keep coming back to my site to see what’s new. And definitely stop by when you’re looking for personal astrological gift items for someone special.
This site is made possible because some of the sites that I review pay me a percentage on purchases made by my readers. If you find my reviews valuable, I would appreciate it if you would keep your cookies turned on, and go through my site when you buy your personalized horoscopes and gifts. Because I want my readers to keep coming back, I make a strong effort to be thoroughly objective in my reviews. I am especially excited when I can find and recommend free, high-quality Personal Horoscope services to my readers.
So here are my first two recommendations – start with My Top 5-Star Sites and Horoscopes and enjoy exploring my site. Then, before you leave, be sure to sign up for my monthly newsletter Maya’s Personal Astrology Today to get all the latest news about Personal Astrology on the Web.
Have fun! And may the stars be with you!
